Social media buzz or short-term price movements alone are not indicators of technical soundness. A network’s success in a test environment does not guarantee that it will perform the same way under high demand. Additionally, external dependencies—such as bridges, oracle services, and custody solutions—can alter the security profile of the entire system.
Key Risks
Liquidity in the altcoin market may be low, and wide spreads between buy and sell prices may occur. The permissions in the token contract may allow the developer to create new supply, halt transfers, implement blacklists, or make changes that affect user funds. The presence of an audit report does not completely eliminate this risk; contract updates, administrator keys, and integrations must also be reviewed.
Regulatory classification, exchange listing status, network support, and the continuity of the project team may change over time. Transfers to the wrong network, fake token contracts, phishing, and low-quality wallet software are common risks on the user side.
